On the coach’s birthday, the Governor of Iowa declared the day to be “Dan Gable Day.” Over 200 friends, family, coaches, wrestlers and elected officials gathered at the Dan Gable International Wrestling Museum in Waterloo, IA to celebrate the wrestler, coach and inspiration to the wrestling community. “He is a great role model for all of our young people and Iowans are so very proud that he was born and raised here in Waterloo,” Gov. Branstad said. “And his entire career has been associated with Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and West High School and he continues to be an inspiration and continues to be involved in our state and his hometown of Waterloo.”
Got something to say? Go for it!

Great video by Tim Jackson. Can’t wait to see the documentary on Iowa’s four-time state wrestling champions.
